What is "Wireless Internet Access"?
Wireless Internet access is a form of high speed, or Broadband Internet access, that uses a radio frequency instead of phone or cable lines.  LavonWeb.net is providing high speed cost effective solutions for Internet access via wireless, NO PHONE LINES NEEDED!  There is no need to worry about slow downloads, busy signals, or disconnections anymore, with Wireless Internet your computer is always on the Internet.  LavonWeb.net is the first company to bring cost effective, high speed Internet access to the Lavon area via wireless technology. [TOP]

What equipment is needed by the subscriber?
The subscriber  will need to have purchased an ethernet router and have a network card preinstalled in their computer.  We will connect our wireless radio/antenna into your router with Cat5 Ethernet cable.  If you are planning on using a laptop wireless then a wireless router should be purchased prior to installation.  We will configure the wireless router for you during the install if requested.  [TOP]

How fast is the internet connection?
LavonWeb.net's current wireless internet connection is capable of providing symmetrical upload/download speeds up to 1536 kbps, which is almost 30X's that of the fastest dial-up connection.  See our wireless speed comparison [TOP]

What is symmetrical upload/download?
Symmetrical upload/download means that you can get the same speed both while downloading as well as uploading.  [TOP]

What will my email address be?  (What are your email domains?)
Lavon Internet and Computer Services currently provides access for the following email domains.  Lavonweb.net, Copeville.net, Wylieweb.net, NevadaTx.net and Cowboyweb.net.  [TOP]

Where can I buy the wireless radio/antenna?
Equipment to connect to our network is only available from LavonWeb.net.  [TOP]

Will I have to learn anything new to use this system?
If you already know how to use a Web browser you will find our system totally transparent.  You are always online.  You click on your browser icon, and you are online with no delay, no waiting for a free line or a connection. [TOP]

What are some benefits of having a fast Internet access?
Many times you might find yourself sitting on your computer waiting up to 5 minutes just for one home page to load.  Most of the time it happens  because it is  "Content Rich,"  meaning it has many pictures and active moving things, sometimes even sound.  This makes it very hard for a slow modem connection to process so much information.  As the Internet evolves, so will "content."  People are finding new ways to express themselves through "content rich pages," leaving users frustrated because they have to wait for the pages to load.  With fast Wireless Internet access, there is no need to wait. [TOP]

Do I need a phone line?
NO! A phone line is not needed.  The Wireless Internet connection is bi-directional, meaning your unit will send and receive information, making it a complete solution for Internet connectivity. [TOP]

Is this like cable modems or ADSL?
Cable Modems and DSL are all dependent on physical wires, and a middle man (i.e. phone/cable company).  With Wireless Internet access you are not dealing with wires, but directly with the ISP.  There is no need for a separate ISP.  [TOP]

Is internet access unlimited?
No, but with Wireless Internet access your computer is always connected.  There are no time limits of how long you can use it.  There are transfer limits per plan that should be enough for all internet users.  Your computer is connected 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year.  [TOP]

Is this the same as "satellite" Internet?
No!  Wireless Internet is bi-directional unlike most satellite solutions, where you download via the dish antenna, but you are also connected by phone line to the Internet for uploading information.  This wireless solution eliminates the need for any dedicated phone lines, and therefore reduces your costs.  Also, your signal only has to travel a few miles instead of thousands to the satellite.  [TOP]

Can I run servers on this connection?
Yes.  Clients wishing to run servers over a wireless link will need to notify us and have to pay for that ability. The running of servers of any kind is prohibited in the residential wireless plans. [TOP]

What to do If service is temporarily unavailable?
You need to notify LavonWeb.net Customer Service and a Technical support personnel will take care of it as soon as possible. [TOP]

How long will it take to get the service?
We can usually set up the service within 48 hours if you are located in our coverage area.  [TOP]

Can I get busy signals?
NO, you always have an Internet connection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year. A wireless connection requires no phone line making it impossible to get a busy signal. [TOP]

How secure is my computer?
Though Lavonweb.net guarantees the security of the wireless and IP network, it does not guarantee the security of your personal computer. It is highly recommended to use a firewall software at your home pc to prevent outside hackers intrusion. [TOP]

What is a static IP?  Can I use my static IP to host web page?
Static IP is a registered IP assigned by your ISP to only  Remotely Access your computer.  You are not allowed to host any web pages using this IP. This IP only going to be used when you are outside somewhere and connected to the internet and you want to connect to your home pc for ftp purpose or for remotely working purpose using Net Meeting or pc anywhere access. [TOP]

I would like to use my old email accounts using your Internet service.  Do I need to change my account setup?
You don’t need to change your POP3 email accounts setup if you want to use your old email addresses. But if you want to use a LavonWeb.net email addresses, only then you need to create a new POP3 account from your outlook or outlook express using incoming [POP3] email server: mail.lavonweb.net and outgoing [SMTP] mail server: mail.lavonweb.net  [TOP]

Do you support newsgroups?
We do not newsgroup servers at this time.  [TOP]

What do I need to host my web page from LavonWeb.net?

Public or commercial webspace is included with our business plan.  To host your personal website, please contact us and we will create a username and ftp space for your account.  You will need to upload your files to ftp://ftp.lavonweb.net and your finished page will be viewable at www.lavonweb.net/username.  Website design support is not provided.  [TOP]

Why does my personal website not show up?

Make sure that you have created an index.html file within your ftp space.  It should NOT be in a subfolder of your ftp space. [TOP]

Are my speeds guaranteed?

Speeds described are between your location and the LavonWeb internet access point. Actual download and upload speeds will vary based on numerous factors, such as your computer configuration, Internet and network congestion, and the speed of Web site servers you access, among other factors. Speed and uninterrupted use of the service are not guaranteed.
